Morning Rituals

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Today I suck less at making time for myself. Even if that time is at 4am in the morning.

I have to be at work by 7am every day. After work, I tend to my family and my secret double life as a rockstar. Let's just say work/life balance is a daily struggle. I have no shame in typing #thestruggleisreal -- Because, it is so fucking real.

Lately, I have been working overtime at my day job, doing crazy photo shoots, trying to get dinner on the table, rehearsing, writing, etc... I've let the art of self-care slip into a black hole of despair. In turn, I've slipped into that black hole. I've felt anxiety and stress slowly creep back into my life.

You know the old saying, the one your Grandparents used to say? "You have as many hours in the day as Beyonce." Well, they were right and I do. Hello, 4am!

I've started waking up at 4am, just so I can start off my day with a little TLC. Yes, I'm tired and I don't want to wake up that early. But, the way I feel after a day without my morning ritual compared to a day started with yummy yoga and lemon water is game changing.

Now, instead of waking up and freaking out because I'm running late. I wake up slowly and mindfully. My body and brain are thankful.

My Morning Ritual

  • Warm Water w/ Lemon and Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Light a candle
  • 5 Min Meditation (I like this one)
  • 15 Min Morning Yoga (I switch it up, but LOVE Yoga by Candace)
  • 5 Min Warm Up
  • 5 Min HIIT (Right now I'm doing 30 days of HIIT w/ Neila Rey)
  • 5 Min Kettlebell Swings (Really helps get the blood flowing in the morning)
  • 15 Yoga Cool Down
Do you have your own morning ritual? What do you do to beat stress and take care of yourself? I'd love to hear your tips and tricks.
Stay sane!

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Here is the 2nd half of our amaze-balls trip to Japan! We visited Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara before heading back to Tokyo on this leg of the trip. I got to perform in an over 200 year old hotel, we took in the views at the Umeda Sky building, ate our way through Nishiki Market, froliced with the deer in Nara, and much more.
