My Glasses Collection Featuring: BONLOOK

Thursday, April 23, 2015

Today I suck less at accepting my flaws and embracing my true self.

I'm blind. Like legally, legit blind. Here is a picture to prove it. I also love Froot Loops.

Oh yeaaaah! Where all my blind girls at? Raise your hands! Or don't raise your hands if you were anything like me.

I've worn glasses since I was three years old. However, since age 9 I've worn one single contact lens in my right eye instead. Why don't I wear two? Well, I can't see out of my left eye so what is the point? I wore my contact daily just so I wouldn't be the "girl with the glasses." I wore my contact to feel pretty and confident. Funny thing is I can't see as well out of my contact. So the constant worry about how my eyes looked and how much I squinted to see things made me the total opposite of confident. I'd rush home, pop my contact out and put on my glasses. It seriously felt just like putting a comfy pair of sweats on after a long day in pantyhose. Why didn't I just wear my glasses and live in comfort all day?

Cut to present time and everyone and their Mother wears faux glasses to look cool! WHAT?! I remember being called a million names worse than "Four Eyes"because I wore glasses. Kids can be really freaking mean. I'm bummed that it took glasses coming into fashion for me to feel confident in myself enough to rock my own glasses. I've always felt more like myself when I wore them, but worried too much about what other people thought to wear them in public. Not anymore.

Big thanks to Hipster kids around the world for helping me feel comfortable in my own shell. And thank you to companies like BonLook, Ray-Ban, and Warby Parker for making amazing frames! The styles give me that extra push I needed to be able to have fun with wearing glasses again.

BonLook happens to partner with some of my favorite bloggers to create unique styles. I LOVE Keiko Lynn. Oddly enough, I happened to be on a cool Virgin America flight from JFK to LAX with her once. Banana Republic had a Mad Men inspired fashion show in the sky. They gave out goodie bags and awesome cocktails. It was pretty cool! She was on the flight as one of their bloggers. That's was my first introduction to Ms. Groves.

Anyway, when she was announcing her new BonLook line, I knew I would be obsessed with them. Of course she came out with a pair in my favorite color, Mint. I was sold.

BonLook just released a new line with blogger Katie of Skunkboy and they are sparkle magic! The light pink and light blue are beautiful soft neutrals that go with everything.
With my newly found confidence, I may have gone a little overboard with my glasses purchases. I need to work on that whole spending thing ;)

Take a peek and shop my current collection!

My Korean Skincare Routine - Morning, Night and Extras

Today I suck less at having glowing, beautiful, hydrated skin!

Here is a peek into my morning and night skincare routine. I mentioned this before in my post on Korean Sheet Masks, I haven't always had the best skincare routine. I think the last 10 years I've used bar soap on my skin. Yeah, yeah, I know. No wonder I have such dry skin! Well, I got super obsessed with the idea of a Korean skincare routine. I really wanted to start taking better care of my skin. I've always had very nice skin. It's actually one part of my body I've always been proud of. But, I think I've taken it for granted. I've been using this routine for about 2 months and I am amazed at how supple, clear, and bright my skin looks and feels.

One happy change that I wasn't expecting, I'm sleeping better! I had no idea how not removing my makeup at night was effecting my sleep. Now the ritual of washing my face and going through these steps allows my brain to say "Okay, we're done for the day, yayyy!"

I did a ton of research on what products would work for my normal/dry skin. I suggest doing your own research especially if you have oily/combination skin to find the best products for you. The steps are still the same, cleanse, tone, essence, serum, moisturize, eye cream, SPF.

In my reading I noticed a few differences between how Korean women care for their skin. They tend to massage and pat and we tend to scrub more. I've been trying to keep that in mind when I apply products and cleanse.

This may seem totally intimidating, but I assure you that once you get in a routine it takes no time at all. I can promise you that you will be amazed at how much better your skin looks and feels.

Take a look at my Korean Skincare routine! Let me know if you would ever switch up your skincare routine too. What products have you tried and fallen in love with?

*Pro-tip: Apply these steps to your neck and hands too. You'd be suprised at how youthful those parts of your body can become too!

*BUY THAT SPF CUSHION COMPACT! It is amazing. Better than any BB or CC cream I've tried and it is so much easier to apply.

Happy Skin,

Sunday Shopping Obsession: Korean Sheet Masks

Sunday, April 5, 2015

Today I suck less at taking care of my skin, but I frighten children.

This post is a little sneak peek at a massive post coming soon! I'll be detailing my newly founded Korean Skin Care routine. It's a doozy! Going from never taking my makeup off at night to a 10 step skin care routine day and night has been challenging. But, I'm already starting to see some remarkable results. Hello, gorgeous skin! "Oh, you want to card me for this glass of wine? Suuuuuure!

I've always wanted to be one of those girls with an ambiguous age. "She could be 25 or 45, who's to say?" Like this girl.

In an effort to overhaul my horrendous skin care routine, I became slightly obsessed with Korean sheet masks! They are easy to apply, target a wide variety of skin issues, and some of them are down right adorable. Faux-mustache mask! Panda Eyes! Yes, please.

Sure, you look utterly frightening when you wear these babies. But, at least your skin won't be alarming any children during the day now. My pores looked like they could start renting space on the moon.

Here is a little list of my fav sheet masks and ones that I'm really excited to try! Do you sheet mask? What are your favorite ones to use?

Happy Shopping,
Delaney
