Sunday Shopping Obsession: Birkenstock

Today I suck less at finding comfort in my personal style.

They're baaaaaaaaaaack!

I know, they've been back. The Olsen twins and pinterest have definitely confirmed that they are here to stay (at least for another season.) And my body kindly thanks the fashion world.

I'm talking about Birkenstock sandals. My inner hippie is doing a happy dance! The best part about these little floating clouds for your feet-- they are making these in really cute styles.

Let's get real for a minute about quality. I wasn't 1000% sold on the Birkenstock trend so I purchased a less expensive version by Steve Madden. While they look fantastic, they squeak with every step. "Squeak, squeak, squeak! Here comes Delaney" is what I imagine everyone is saying when I walk in a room. If you are going to take the Birkenstock plunge, I suggest going with the real deal.

There is much debate within the Birk community about the new Soft Footbed vs. the Original Footbed. I'm not even going to try to take a side. But, I will say that I preferred the soft footbed when I tried them on. However, I do not have knee or back issues and I'm wearing these for comfort and style rather than the original purpose of healthy body alignment. I'll leave this choice up to what works for your body!

These are the Birkenstocks I had to have. I loved the black vegan leather with black buckles. I try to buy the vegan choice if I can and I've also read that the leather birkenstock sandal can turn your feet black. I searched high and low for this sandal with the soft footbed. I couldn't find the exact combo anywhere online. I finally called the Birkenstock headquarters and they were super helpful! They located my perfect birkenstock sandal at Footwise in Oregon.

This was another lesson in waiting to find exactly what you want rather than impulse buying in the moment.

I'm very pleased with my Birkenstock purchase and my body is even happier.
